Suicide Loss Support Group

Beyond Surviving

You may struggle with the "why". You may feel overwhelmed by the intensity of your feelings. You may worry that others may blame you. You need not grieve alone.

The death of a loved one by suicide presents unique challenges in grieving. There is often more shock, a greater sense of injustice, more guilt and blame, and a heightened sense of helplessness; and these all tend to complicate the healing process for survivors.

There is a safe place in our community for survivors (families and loved ones of suicide victims) to share their loss with others who are experiencing similar thoughts and feelings.

Trained facilitators, also survivors of suicide themselves, will guide and hold space for the group. This group is open to all adult survivors of suicide and are held at Healing Arts Center.

First Wednesday of Every Month

4:30-6:00 PM

If you or someone you know has experienced a loss by suicide and would like more information about this free service, please call Stacey Garcelon, M.Ed, NCC, at the Healing Arts Center at (219) 510-5623.

GiGi's Playhouse Update

Thank you to all who participated in our second exploratory meeting for GiGi's Playhouse. The meeting was very successful, and we are making significant progress. Basically, we are trying to decide between three options. We can pursue GiGi's Playhouse, develop our own entity, or come in under the Down Syndrome Association of NW Indiana. All three options have pros and cons. Right now, we are further exploring all three.

Our next meeting will be held on January 8th at 6:30 pm at Healing Arts Center, 2307 LaPorte Ave, Suite 10, in Valparaiso. All those interested should plan on attending as decisions, goals, and timelines need to be underway. We want your input to help make this endeavor as successful as possible!
