Lyme Disease
Lyme disease has not only become an immense threat in Northwest
Indiana, but throughout the U.S. and world as well. Very slowly,
the medical community is taking notice - not only of the existence
and prevalence of Lyme disease in our area but of the effects chronic
Lyme can wreak on our health. It is going to be a long process,
however, in getting people to recognize the scope of this ever-increasing
problem.
We see many Lyme clients at Healing Arts Center. Some come to us
already aware of their diagnosis of Lyme. Sometimes they have been
struggling for many years trying to find ways to feel better and
resume a "normal life." Other times they have no idea
what might be wrong with them or why they "haven't felt good"
for months or even years. They've been to many doctors who have
run thousands of dollars' worth of tests which have all come back
"normal." They've been referred to yet other doctors such
as psychologists or psychiatrists, rheumatologists, endocrinologists,
etc. They've been on anti-inflammatories, antidepressants, muscle
relaxers, and so on - all to no avail. They've received diagnoses
like chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple
sclerosis, migraines, ADD/ADHD, autism, irritable bowel, and a host
of other conditions, as Lyme is often called the "great mimicker"
and can mimic about 350 different conditions. But standard treatment
for these conditions never really gives the relief it should. Why?
Because the underlying problem hasn't yet been discovered. The underlying
problem may be Lyme disease.
Most
people associate Lyme disease with a tick bite, but we now know
there are other modes of transmission, including flies, mosquitoes,
spiders, and even in utero from mother to baby. Many people think
they can't have Lyme because they've never had the tell-tale "bull's
eye" rash, yet that appears only in a minority of Lyme cases.
It is the exception, not the rule.
Diagnosing Lyme disease can often be a difficult task. Currently,
there are only a few labs in the U.S. that are recommended for the
most accurate testing available, and we use Medical Diagnostics
Lab on the east coast or Igenex on the west coast. At Healing Arts
Center, we have contracted with Health Chek Lab to come to our clinic
on a monthly basis to draw blood and send it for testing to these
labs. If you decide to be tested for Lyme, utilizing labs other
than these can often result in a false negative. Final diagnosis
is always based on symptoms as well as response to treatment.
If Lyme disease is detected, appropriate treatment can finally
be initiated and progress made. There are many alternative health
therapies that can help fight off and reverse the effects of Lyme
disease. They include:
*NAET = this is a treatment process that
eliminates a person's sensitivity to both Lyme bacteria and it's
co-infectors, as well as rebuilds the immune system so the body
can fight on its own.
UBI/Biophoton Therapy = The use
of ultraviolet blood irradiation (UBI) can destroy Lyme and other
associated co-infectors by stimulating the body's own immune system.
The body's defenses are rapidly organized, toxins are eliminated,
proper oxygenation of the tissues is restored, and the body is brought
back into balance. Healing Arts Center offers both intravenous UBI
and sublingual UBI therapy. If warranted, ozone therapy may also
be added.
*Herbals and Homeopathics = There
are probably 100 various supplements that can help the body fight
Lyme. Rather than just pulling them off the shelf and trying each
one, the practitioners at Healing Arts Center can test them individually
for their effectiveness for each particular client. Every person
is different, and what works for one may not work for another. Healing
Arts Center uses only the finest pharmaceutical grade supplements
that have been found the most effective in fighting Lyme.
*Rife Technology = Rife technology is frequency-based
therapy that delivers frequencies specific to Lyme bacteria and
its co-infectors. These frequencies are able to shatter and destroy
bacteria and also help draw out the resulting toxins from the body.
In addition, chiropractic and/or
acupuncture treatments can significantly
reduce symptoms of Lyme disease and speed the healing process. Massage
therapy, bioenergetic therapies, hypnotherapy, mental health
counseling, and Craniosacral therapy can also be significant adjunct
therapies in regaining health.
In addition to the above alternative treatments for Lyme disease,
Jeffery Smith, MD, is also a member of the Healing Arts team and
is available to see patients who are interested in the latest antibiotic
regimens for Lyme treatment. Dr. Smith has been focusing almost
exclusively on Lyme identification and treatment since 2013 after
interning with the distinguished D. Cameron, reknown Lyme expert,
in New York. Dr. Smith is a voting member of the International Lyme
and Associated Disease Society (ILADS) and incorporates both traditional
antibiotic treatment as well as the non-traditional treatments offered
by other Healing Arts Center practitioners to help heal Lyme disease.
The diagnosis, treatment, and even the mere existence of chronic
Lyme disease is a very controversial topic, and it is not our purpose
to debate the politics of this subject. It is, however, our purpose
to help our clients heal and regain health and well-being. To learn
more about Lyme disease, please make an appointment for a free half-hour
consult, or visit ILADS.com. In addition, for people who have been
diagnosed with Lyme disease, we offer a free booklet entitled, "Lyme
Disease: A Guide for Our Clients and Their Families."
